This whimsical, layered painting began (as what looked to me) like a painting full of people. As I continued working, windows and doorways began to emerge, almost as though I were creating places for all those people to belong. It became a playful collection of shapes and spaces, paintings within the painting, each with its own character and story. I originally called it “All the Lonely People,” but as the painting evolved, the people seemed to find their place, and became “All the Lovely People.”I almost renamed it “Old Port” after noticing a part that reminded me of a photo I took of light reflecting off a building on Union Street. The resemblance emerged unintentionally, but I couldn’t resist enhancing it! I’ve included a photo of the reflection alongside the corresponding detail in the painting. There’s so much to discover in this one, and I hope you’ll enjoy exploring it as much as I enjoyed creating it.“All the Lovely People,” 24x48 Acrylic on Canvas, available at @maineartcollective in #portland #maine#abstract #windowsanddoors #people

A little off-topic from art, but I’m proud of this…This actually started at the DMV last summer. 😂 I was renewing my license and the guy asked if I wanted to change the weight listed on it: 135 lbs. I was closer to 150 and thought, Nope. I’m going to make it accurate instead.Once I got there, I decided to keep going. In January, I set a new goal: 120 lbs by September 2—and to get stronger, in pretty much every way.I reached 120 on May 11, my 44th birthday—not a bad present to myself!I didn’t do anything drastic. I wanted consistency and sustainability. I walked a lot, added simple strength exercises, ate more intentionally, and still enjoyed drinks & dessert. 🥂 I wanted changes I could actually live with.I got stronger. 💪 I feel better in my body, I can do more with it, and I’m really proud of myself. 💐🎂❤️#PersonalGrowth #FitnessJourney #Consistency #SelfCare #HealthyHabits StrongerEveryDay
